• Forsyth Co. teen dies after assault at Statesboro bar


    STATESBORO, Ga. - An 18-year-old from Forsyth County was killed in an altercation at a Statesboro bar early Thursday morning.

    According to the Statesboro Police Department, Michael Gatto was found by police at Rude Rudy’s bar non-responsive with head injuries.

    Gatto was taken to East Georgia Regional Medical Center before being flown to Memorial in Savannah. He later died.

    Police identified Grant James Spencer, 20, as a suspect. He is in police custody on battery charges.

    According to the Twitter account for the South Forsyth High School track team, Gatto was on the team for four years.

    The Bulloch County coroner confirmed that Gatto died following an altercation Rude Rudy’s bar.
