Flames were shooting from the roof of The Bombay Grill at 2165 Savoy Drive.
A driver passing by on 285 didn't see any fire, just smoke coming from the Indian restaurant around 4:30 a.m. Sunday and called 911.
Firefighters arrived to find smoke through the entire building and called a second alarm.
The fire quickly spread through the entire building.
Fire crews tried to get inside, but it was just too dangerous.

"Right now we are fighting a defensive fire,” Capt. Halani Lobdell said. “We initially tried to go interior, but due to the extent of the fire we were forced to back out."
No one was at the restaurant when the fire started and no one is hurt.
Arson investigators will arrive Sunday morning once the fire is out to determine how it started.
It may have been going for awhile until that passerby noticed it.
