Fire breaks out in midtown J.R. Crickets building

ATLANTA — Atlanta firefighters were called to knock down flames in the building that houses J.R. Crickets in midtown.

The restaurant is located at the intersection of Spring Street and North Avenue, across the street from The Varsity. Spring Street is blocked in the area.

Firefighters were called to the building around 4:30 a.m.

Firefighters said the apartment above the restaurant was gutted by flames and the restaurant's upstairs seating area sustained smoke and water damage.

This J.R. Crickets location is home to the original restuarant, which opened in 1982, with nine franchises throughout metro Atlanta. The eateryis famous for its buffalo wings.
