ATLANTA — One student told Channel 2 Action News she is afraid to show up for class at Carver High School in southeast Atlanta due to repeated fights.
Video sent to Channel 2's Tyisha Fernandes shows a brawl including at least 25 students.
Police say these fights are happening often at Carver High School.
The parents of the student who sent the fight video wouldn't let the child speak on camera, because they're afraid for her safety.
The student sent a statement saying:
"Every day I watch random students get targeted and beat to a pulp as if they are nothing. I have been one of those students. I was surrounded in the courtyard and punched, stomped and kicked almost unconscious."
Fernandes obtained seven different police reports, but police say they've been called to the school for nearly 20 fights. They say on two occasions shots were fired, but no one was injured.
Atlanta Public School officials were shown the fight video, but wouldn't respond on camera.
The district released the following statement:
"The Atlanta Public Schools Safety and Security Department is working collaboratively with our local law enforcement partners to investigate and curtail incidents on our campuses and school sites."
