Family and friends gather to remember teen barber killed outside of his Clayton county business

CLAYTON COUNTY, Ga. — Family and friends of a teen barber, killed outside his barber shop came together to honor his life. It happened nearly a week ago and still no one has been arrested for his murder.

“All praises due to God. He is the most merciful and master of this day of judgement,” said Dartagnan Hadden.

Prayers of encouragement were lifted up Friday for the family and friends of 17-year old Anthony ‘China’ McClain. They all met at the barber shop on Riverstation Boulevard in College Park on Friday night. It’s the shop he co-owned with his mother, and the very spot he was shot and killed.

His fellow barber, Dartagnan Hadden, coordinated the celebration of life in his honor, “As you can see, he has many, way more loved ones than we could imagine.”

It was a crowd of blue-and-white balloons. They represented not just his favorite colors, but the impact McClain had on everyone he met. “It’s indescribable, because he had more love, and spread more love, and spread himself, much more than I knew. I knew him as a barber, that he did much more outside the shop, but to see all the love and people support him, from different facets and different groups. He was loved,” said Hadden.

It’s bene almost a week since his death. Family members said people were arguing outside last Saturday when they started shooting. McClain was walking outside when he was hit, “He was one of the purest kids I’ve ever seen,” said Hadden.

His aunt, Nora Huff, said the thought of McClain now gone is hitting everyone hard. “I knew he was very much loved in the community.”

They released balloons to symbolize that his spirit will forever fly on. “Justice will be served. The God I pray to, it will be served, no doubt about that,” said Huff.
