Dunwoody police sergeant escorts veteran to Memorial Day event

DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. — Dunwoody police are celebrating Memorial Day by sharing a story from one of their officers.

According to the Dunwoody Police Department Facebook page, Sgt. Robert Parsons was patrolling neighborhoods in the city Monday, when he found a man who appeared to be lost.

He said the man told him he was looking for a way to celebrate Memorial Day. The man, Ernest Jett, was wearing a hat that said World War II Veteran.

Parsons asked him about it and he said he served in Normandy, France in 1944.

Parsons said he looked online, saw that most Memorial Day events and services were over, and decided to take Jett to the nearby veterans’ memorial at Brook Run Park.

The two took a photo in front of it that has already gotten more than 7,500 likes on their Facebook page.
