ATLANTA — Atlanta police are investigating a deadly crash that closed a major exit ramp off Interstate 85 Tuesday morning.
Police said the driver of a Jeep Compass hit a guardrail at the 17th Street exit on southbound I-85 early Tuesday morning. When the man got out of his car, he was struck by another southbound vehicle and killed.
The second car hit a concrete embankment and caught fire, police said.
When officers arrived, they pulled a man out of the driver's seat of the second car, but he said he was not driving at the time of the crash. Officers concluded there was not another driver and the man's blood alcohol content is being tested.
The Atlanta police DUI unit is investigating the crash.
