NEWTON COUNTY, Ga. — Police say a driver was going the wrong way when he caused a fatal accident.
Channel 2 Action News was there when two SUVs were loaded onto flatbed wreckers in Newton County.
Investigators say the driver made a U-turn on Interstate 20 eastbound near Salem Road and started heading the wrong way and crashed into eight other vehicles.
That driver died.
Three other people had to be pulled from their vehicles. All were taken to an area hospital. Their conditions have been released.
Traffic was backed up for hours in the area.
The crash is still under investigation.
