DOUGLAS COUNTY, Ga. — Some Douglas County residents say they're victims twice over.
Google Fiber says a contractor damaged a water line at the Millwood Park apartments.
It flooded homes and people lost thousands of dollars’ worth of items.
Some are still displaced, weeks later.
Channel 2's Rikki Klaus reports residents say they've been getting the runaround.
Some residents say they have not been reimbursed for food, hotel stays and damaged property.
Lawanda Wilson will never forget April 25, when Google Fiber tells Klaus a contractor busted a water line.
Wilson says water poured into her apartment for at least 45 minutes.
"They had pumped out 600 gallons of water, and that was just 15 minutes of them being in the apartment," Wilson said.
Photos Wilson took show the ceiling collapsed.
She says her family lost most of its possessions.
Three weeks later, Wilson and her kids are still staying in a hotel.
"It's like no one really cares because we're the small people in this whole incident," Wilson said.
She said Google started footing the bill after her husband called the company, three days after the incident. Wilson said the apartment complex only offered a one-night stay in a temporary apartment.
"It has been unbelievably stressful." Wilson said.
Wilson's next-door neighbor, Torrey Butts, says he also paid out-of-pocket for a hotel.
He says his wife is at the hospital, about to have a baby.
"And with me having a newborn, I don't really want to bring my child into an apartment that has the potential for mold," Butts said.
Members of a work crew told Klaus at the scene they had to cut mold and mildew out of the Wilson's apartment before restoration could begin.
Wilson says she's not sure she even wants to move back after everything that's happened.
