Did you see it? SpaceX Dragon capsule soars over Georgia Thursday night

ATLANTA — If you were outside Thursday night, you were in for a treat.

Part of SpaceX Dragon capsule was seen soaring across parts of Georgia and the Southeast as it came in for a landing in the Atlantic Ocean near the Kennedy Space Center in Florida.

Many people in Georgia saw a streak of light and even a boom around 10:30 p.m.

Many people contacted Channel 2 Action News about what they were seeing and the sky. Many reported hearing a boom that rattled their homes.

According to SpaceX, the splashdown of Dragon was successfully confirmed, completing SpaceX’s 23rd cargo resupply mission to the International Space Station.

SpaceX said the capsule was visible in parts of Florida and Georgia.

Some have reported seeing the capsule re-enter the atmosphere with a similar resemblance to a meteor.
