DeKalb County teachers have not taught from inside school buildings for nearly a year, since the pandemic began.
Channel 2 Action News spoke to one DeKalb County teacher, who said teachers have not been told the next steps, like when students could return to the classroom.
The school district also released a statement Saturday, saying their main goal is to keep staff and students safe while transitioning back into the buildings.
“Earlier this week, we notified employees that all remaining 10, 11, and 12-month employees, who were working remotely after the school buildings opened on Jan. 4, will return to the work setting on Feb. 3,” officials said. “The goal of keeping our staff and students safe, while preparing our buildings for students, remains a priority. Transitioning to our physical workspace/classrooms and preparing for a concurrent learning environment requires the DCSD workforce to be present.”
