BROOKHAVEN, Ga. — A DeKalb County road is closing Friday as an intersection project nears completion.
Brookhaven officials said in order to finish the Ashford Dunwoody/Peachtree Road intersection, Ashford Dunwoody Road must be closed for the intersection connection work.

The closure will be from Feb. 24 until Feb. 28 from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Signage and messages will be posted in the area to warn commuters.
Brookhaven leaders said the purpose of the project is to improve right-turn movements on Ashford Dunwoody Road and Peachtree Road intersection.

Some of the improvements at the intersection are:
- Extended right turn lane on southbound Ashford Dunwoody Road to Oglethorpe Drive
- Dedicated right-turn lane on southbound Peachtree Road, increase the turn radius in the northeast corner of intersection, install a concrete island, and provide space for shelter/waiting area at the bus stop on Peachtree Road.
- Reduce the skew of the intersection with Peachtree Road
- Signal improvements as necessary for the new configuration.
- Install ten-foot multi-use path on the east side of ADR with five-foot planted buffer
- Install five-foot sidewalk on the west side of ADR with a two-foot wide grass strip
- Pedestrian, streetscapes and landscape improvements
- Drainage improvement
