BROOKHAVEN, Ga. — A popular bridge that cuts between two major roads is being torn down.

The Nancy Creek bridge is located in Brookhaven, in DeKalb County.
The bridge closed in July after Georgia Department of Transportation engineers found “severe structural issues,” during a routine inspection.

Crews are trying to relocate the DeKalb County water lines, which are currently attached to the bridge.
The completion of the demolition is expected by the end of spring 2023.

Residents on the west side of the bridge can access the neighborhood from Old Johnson Ferry Road. Commuters using West Nancy Creek Road to travel between Ashford Dunwoody Road and Sandy Springs can detour on Johnson Ferry Road or Interstate 285.
