Several board members said Sauce has done a good job during his time as interim superintendent. But some parents and other board members have previously questioned how the search was handled.
Sauce became the interim superintendent following the resignation of Dr. Devon Horton in Oct. 2025.
Horton resigned following a federal indictment that accused him of giving school contracts to close friends while he was leading a school district in Illinois. Prosecutors say Horton later brought some of those friends to DeKalb County.
Horton entered a not guilty plea. Federal court records show that he is set to appear for a change of plea hearing in Illinois on Monday.
