FOREST PARK, Ga. — Residents in a Forest Park senior living facility said they've seen an increase in foxes and coyotes in their community.
The sightings are concerning enough in the neighborhoods where they've been occurring, but residents said they've seen animals foaming at the mouth.
Roy Meyers is just one of the residents at the Ashton Walk Senior Living Apartments who has spotted wild animals in recent days.
"They've been seeing coyotes, at the nighttime and the daytime, and a fox, too," Meyers said.
The sightings typically wouldn't be alarming but residents said animal attacks in neighboring counties and confirmed rabies cases have them concerned.
"I kept on walking. I didn't have my stick with me," Meyers said.
One resident told Channel 2's Carl Willis animal control came to the complex and was able to see a fox from her bedroom window. Another resident said one of the animals appeared to be foaming at the mouth.
"I don't walk back up in there. I usually walk, but I stopped walking through the evening time," said resident Betty Lovett.
Some of the people in the community on Governors Drive noticed police activity Sunday morning. They said they'll take any help they can get because some of the seniors would be unable to protect themselves from an animal attack.
"We have two or three wheelchair-bound people around here and I'm just scared," Lovett said.
