Columbia High School briefly placed on lockdown

DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. — A DeKalb County high school was briefly placed on lockdown Monday after a school resource officer confronted a young person.

DeKalb police said the incident happened around 3 p.m. Monday.

Investigators said the SRO chased the young man into the wood line near the school.

As a precaution, the school was placed on lockdown until about 3:50 p.m.  Normal dismissal time is 3:45 p.m.

A perimeter was set up around the school and K-9 units are being used to help track the young man.

So far, police have not located him.
