Cobb woman pleads guilty to stabbing sister to death

COBB COUNTY, Ga. — A Cobb County woman was sentenced to life in prison after pleading guilty to murdering her sister.

On Wednesday, Chakaya Brittney Folborg, 24, plead guilty to killing her sister, Kourtney Dyches, at their Mableton home at 11 p.m. on Feb. 20, 2012.

“This victim was a vibrant young lady with the rest of her life ahead of her. The defendant, without any provocation, took a knife from the kitchen some two hours before the killing and waited until the victim was in the shower before viciously stabbing her at least six times,” said Sherwin Figueroa, assistant district attorney.

The sisters were both 21 years old at the time. Folborg had been adopted into the family as an infant.

Folborg will be eligible for parole after serving 30 years.
