MARIETTA, Ga. — Police are investigating after a teenager riding an e-scooter was killed after crashing into a tractor-trailer.
Marietta police say a white 2023 Freightliner tractor-trailer was at a red traffic light on Cobb Parkway waiting to make a right turn onto Allgood Road.

Daniel Jimenez Gutierrez, 17, was riding an e-scooter and tried to pass the tractor-trailer on the right shoulder instead of stopping with traffic.
That’s when police say the traffic light changed and the tractor-trailer began turning.
Gutierrez crashed into the side of the trailer and got knocked off. He landed under the tires and was run over.

He was rushed to Wellstar Kennestone Hospital with severe injuries but did not survive.
Police say they are still investigating the crash. No charges have been filed against the driver.
