COBB COUNTY, Ga. — The National Weather Service confirmed Saturday that an EF1 tornado tore through Cobb County during the violent storms on Jan. 12th.
The Enhanced Fujita scale is what NWS uses to rate tornado intensity based on the severity of the damage they cause.

NWS reported that the tornado was 150 yards wide and traveled one and a half miles in Cobb County.
A notable area of damage in Cobb County was the side of a warehouse that caved in near Blairs Bridge Road and Oak Ridge Parkway.

“There were definitely workers inside this building when this happened,” Channel 2 Cobb County Bureau Chief Michele Newell said. “I spoke to some people in this area, and they told me they heard a really loud noise. They said they even saw a transformer across the street blow up. It’s just a crazy situation out here.”
Cobb County was not the only with a tornado touchdown.

NWS confirmed at least three other tornadoes touched down in Spalding, Troup and Meriwether counties.
One of the more devastating tornados in Griffin was given an EF-3 rating by NWS, which means winds reached between 136 mph and 165 mph.
