COBB COUNTY, Ga. — A lucky young Braves fan got the surprise gift of a lifetime at last night’s Braves game.
Cobb County police said pitcher Tyler Matzek recently presented autographed baseballs to a few officers. One of those baseballs was donated to the Cobb County Police Chaplain program and put up for auction.

The highest bidder was Cobb County Police Lieutenant Vance Deupree. But Deupree wasn’t about to keep the ball to himself.
Tuesday night was Tyler Matzek bobblehead night at Truist Park, so Deupree went searching for the biggest Matzek fan he could find.

He found a young boy wearing a Matzek Braves jersey, so he stopped him and asked him who his favorite player was. The boy said his favorite players were Fried and Matzek and said he’d waited in line to get Matzek’s autograph earlier in the game but was too far back in line.
Deupree made his night by handing the boy an autographed ball.
