COBB COUNTY, Ga. — A Cobb County man has been sentenced to six years in prison for crimes against children.
Charles Martinez, 65, of Acworth, pleaded guilty to charges of child molestation and furnishing alcohol to a minor.
A judge sentenced him to 20 years, with six years to be served in prison.
On Dec. 2, 2023, his underage victim and her friend were spending the night at Martinez’s home in Acworth.
Martinez had been drinking when he offered alcohol to the 13-year-old victim and her 12-year-old friend.
While the girls were watching a movie, Martinez asked the victim to sit on the couch with him.
He then began touching himself and repeatedly pressured her to touch him.
She refused several times before managing to get away.
The next day, the girl told a doctor about the encounter during a routine checkup.
Once he is out of prison, Martinez must register as a sex offender.
