AUSTELL, Ga. — A beloved dog is back home with his owner after police say two suspects stole the pet from a vehicle parked at a gas station Thursday night.

Austell officers responded to the BP gas station on Austell Powder Springs Road on Aug. 13 after a customer reported that his Cockapoo, named Moxie, had been taken from his vehicle while he went inside to pay for gas.
Investigators quickly reviewed surveillance footage and identified a silver Honda Odyssey that was allegedly involved in the theft.
Police said video showed a female passenger getting out of the van, taking Moxie from the vehicle and leaving the area.

Using the department’s FLOCK camera system and other investigative tools, officers tracked the vehicle, which was determined to be a rental. Investigators then developed information that led them to a nearby home connected to the vehicle’s movements.
Austell police established a perimeter and conducted callouts.
After a brief standoff, police took two people believed to be involved in the theft into custody.
Police said Moxie was found safe and returned to his family.
Authorities have not released the names of the suspects. The investigation remains ongoing.
