Man killed, one injured in shooting; investigators struggling for clues

CLAYTON COUNTY, Ga. — Clayton County police are investigating a deadly shooting.

A 20-year-old died and an 18-year-old was injured during the shooting at a mobile home park.

Police told Channel 2's Matt Johnson they were parked in front of a home early Wednesday morning when someone fired shots.

"It's just something I wouldn't even want my worst enemy to have to ever go through," said Amber Grigsby, mother of victim Dakota Farr.

Every day has been torment for her since Farr's murder. She has no answers eight days after he died in the double shooting.

"He didn't deserve this. He didn't deserve to be shot and killed," she said.

Clayton County police said Farr was parked in front of a vacant home on Hillside Drive when police said someone in a car drove by and started shooting at the car.

Johnson saw a bullet hole still in someone's van parked near the scene.

Farr later died at a local hospital.

Despite the report from police, Grigsby doesn't believe it was a drive-by shooting.

"It appears he was just ambushed and killed in cold blood and murdered, and we don't understand why," Grigsby said.

Farr's family lives in Spalding County, and they said they're not sure why he was in the area at the time of the shooting.

The 18-year-old who was injured is expected to be OK.

With no leads and no arrests, the family hopes key witnesses can identify the getaway car and give them the answers they need.

"I'll never be the same, I know. My life will never be the same, but I think it will help a lot to heal (to know who the shooter was)," Grigsby said.
