School bus crash in Rockdale County

CONYERS, Ga. — A crash that sent 22 students and three staff members to the hospital was the school bus driver’s fault, authorities confirm.

Georgia State Patrol says the bus driver was not impaired, distracted or speeding, but did not properly negotiate the right turn from the exit ramp.

The crash happened near Interstate 20 and Highway 138 last month.

They say the driver crossed all lanes of the highway, hit another car and drove off the road, causing the bus to overturn and roll.

The Salem High School football team and their three buses were on the way home from a game against Greater Atlanta Christian.

GSP says they do not expect to file criminal charges against the driver.
