Soap opera actor accused of molesting girl younger than 10

CHEROKEE COUNTY, Ga. — A local soap opera actor has been arrested and charged with child molestation.

Corey Sligh, 29, appeared on the Young and the Restless in 2014. He is accused of molesting a Cherokee County girl younger that 10-years-old.

Lieutenant Jay Baker told Channel 2’s Rikki Klaus that the girl's family alerted detectives in September about the sexual contact, which occurred in the spring.

“The victim and Corey knew each other," Baker said about Sligh’s relationship with the girl. "It can affect people for their entire life. It can be very traumatic for the victim."

In less than a month, investigators say they obtained enough evidence to arrest Sligh.

Klaus went by his home address in Woodstock. The gate was shut, so she left a business card.

The accusations surprised neighbor Linda Garcia.

"I just can't believe it. It's horrible, and my thoughts and prayers go out to her and the family. You really never know what's going on in your neighborhood," Garcia told Klaus.

Sligh posted a $22,000 bond in mid-October, the same day he was arrested, and was released from jail.

Deputies say slight has no prior history in Cherokee County.
