Man accused of vandalizing, damaging neighborhood pool, now in metro Atlanta jail

19-year-old Andrew Saiz is accused of doing about $30,000 of damage to a neighborhood pool property.

CHEROKEE COUNTY, Ga. — The Cherokee Sheriff’s Office says a 19-year-old is in jail, but granted bond, after vandalizing a community pool on Saturday night. He’s accused of two felonies related to the incident.

The sheriff’s office said deputies responded to a “damage” call at the Bridgemill subdivision pool on Sunday morning around 8 a.m.

When deputies arrived, they found shattered windows, broken beer bottles on the pool deck and graffiti in multiple locations.

Deputies got a “vague description of a possible suspect vehicle,” leading them to identifying Andrew Saiz as the suspect.

Additional evidence at the scene helped identify Saiz.

The sheriff’s office said there were also multiple areas where Saiz is accused of forcing his way into a building on the pool property.

Deputies said Saiz had also sprayed a fire extinguisher into the pool and tried to flood the bathroom by stopping up the sinks and leaving the water running.

Saiz was arrested at his home, according to the sheriff’s office, and faces charges of burglary, criminal damage to property and criminal trespass.

Deputies said Saiz is not a resident of the Bridgemill neighborhood.

Damages to the pool property are estimated at about $30,000.

Saiz is still in custody at the Cherokee County Jail, though he was awarded a bond of $10,062.50.
