Intersection where mother, unborn daughter died in accident dedicated to them

CHEROKEE COUNTY, Ga. — A Cherokee County intersection that was the scene of an accident that killed a mother and her unborn daughter now has a new name.

On Monday, county officials unveiled a sign naming the intersection of Woodstock Road and Victory Drive to Tiffany Robbins Intersection.

Robbins and her unborn daughter died after a car accident at the intersection in January, 2014.

“We’ve been waiting for this day for a while,” said Robbins’ husband, Anthony.

Cherokee County officials ordered the installation of five additional stop signs at the intersection, along with lighting and additional road stripes.

The county’s engineer also told Channel 2 Action News that there are plans to install a roundabout using SPLOST funds.

"I hope that the people in Cherokee County see this because it wasn't for us that we did this for, we wanted to save lives,” said Robbins’ aunt, Judy Beale.

The Robbins’ daughter, Malaya, who was three at the time, was also in the car at the time of the accident. She survived.

Robbins told Channel 2 Action News that he and his daughter pass the intersection every day.

"I think the sign's going to be really good for my daughter. She's going to like to show her friends and family. She loves to talk about her mom," said Robbins.
