CHEROKEE COUNTY, Ga. — A new K-9 officer has joined the ranks at the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office.
K-9 ACE was welcomed by the sheriff’s office on their Facebook page on Friday.
ACE is a beautiful Belgian Malinois and will work with his partner, Deputy Joseph Sullivan.

ACE specializes in narcotics detection, tracking, and apprehension.
ACE joins the other six K-9 officers at the sheriff’s department K-9 unit.
Another K-9 will be retiring this summer and the department will get a new handler.
They expect to add two additional K-9 officers after the one retires, bringing the total number of K-9 officers to 8 by the end of the summer.
On average, a K-9 officer can serve six to seven years before retirement.
