MONROE COUNTY, Ga. — As severe storms continue to move out of Georgia, the heavy rain from the storms is causing flooding across the region.

The Department of Natural Resources said it had to rescue campers from High Falls State Park on Monday because the Towliga River flooded over its banks.

Pictures posted by DNR on Facebook showed rescue crews getting 10 people to safety using boats with the help of Monroe County Fire and Rescue.

DNR also said campers at 25 campsites had to be relocated because of the rising water levels.

“There were no injuries and all campers were evacuated without incident,” DNR said.
