CARTERSVILLE, Ga. — Officials are investigating after a man was hit and killed by a train in Cartersville.

It happened Saturday, just after 9 p.m.
According to Cartersville Police, a man was walking north on the tracks near West Avenue and S. Erwin Street.

Authorities said a train was traveling north on the same tracks and wasn’t able to stop in time, hitting the man.
He was pronounced dead at the scene. Police have not released the victim’s age or name.
