Lightning strike sends Bartow County home up in flames, officials say

BARTOW COUNTY, Ga. — A Bartow County family have been displaced from their home after it was struck by lightning, Bartow County officials say.

Just after 5 a.m. Saturday morning, Bartow County Fire and Emergency Services responded to a report of a structure fire at 74 Milam Bridge Road.

Viewer Nicole Abbott submitted photos of her home engulfed in flames.

“It was a terrible bang... shook house... woke us up,” Abbott said. “It was so loud people down the street heard and felt it.”

Abbott and her family were able to escape the home safely, fire officials confirmed.
