Berry College eagle fends off owl attack

ATLANTA — A pair of eagles perched high above the campus of Berry College have amassed quite a following, but nature's version of reality TV took a strange twist on Tuesday.

A video clip of a Great Horned Owl attacking the female eagle has been shared hundreds of times on the Berry College Eagles Facebook page.

The video shows the owl swoop in as the female eagle tends to eggs in her nest.

School officials said the attack was brief, but the female eagle " continues to vocalize afterwards."

The American Bald Eagles could have offspring any day. Two eggs were laid in the nest in January.

According to the school website, the Eagles were spotted on the sprawling campus in Sept. 2013.

They have a nest in a tall pine tree near the main entrance and the parking lot of the athletic center.

Cameras have been set up since last summer when a Georgia Power crew helped mount them above the nest.
