Video shows ATV rider destroying part of Atlanta park’s grounds

ATLANTA — An ATV rider caught on video riding through a park in the city of Atlanta and people say it caused a lot of damage.

It all happened at D.H. Stanton Park on Sunday. Witnesses said the ATV was circling the area while kids were playing nearby.

Channel 2′s Kristen Holloway said huge tire marks can be seen in the grass at the park on Tuesday morning.

Andy Coen took video of the two men doing donuts at the park. He said he noticed the grass and how much damage the two riders caused in the park.

In the video, Coen approaches the ATV riders telling them they shouldn’t be doing this. He said they just ignored him and drove away down a neighborhood street.

It is against the law to ride an ATV in a park, on the road or a highway in the city of Atlanta so police encourage you to call them if you see this happening in your neighborhood.

This isn’t the first time we’re seeing people ride an ATV in the city limits.

In July 2019, hundreds of ATV riders were caught on video speeding and performing tricks down Peachtree Street in Buckead.

Three people were arrested in that incident and one person was taken to the hospital after police say he crashed into a car.

After the most recent incident on Sunday, Coen hopes this doesn’t continue.

“This is just not the right setting and especially in like a manicured grass park. That is not the place to be destroying. Especially when there are children playing not far away. That’s dangerous, that’s loud. You’re right by people’s houses. It’s just inconsiderate,” Coen said.

We’ve reached out to Atlanta police to see if they knew about the incident or others.
