Robbery suspects accused of targeting runners in Buckhead, Midtown

ATLANTA — A group accused of several robberies in Buckhead and Midtown are in jail after an intense search, chase and crash.

Police said Brandon Anderson, Kareasha Washington and Emory Hunter were involved in three robberies on Tuesday.

Atlanta police said the trio rode in a red Kia stolen out of Cobb County and first targeted a man walking home from Piedmont Park on 8th Street around 7:15 p.m.

Investigators said Hunter tackled the man in the bushes and took his iPhone.

Police said the crew did the same thing 15 minutes later to a woman walking on Blackland Road near Chastain Park.

Police said 15 minutes after that, the car pulled up on a runner on Peachtree Battle.

Officers said one of the women pointed a handgun at the runner and demanded her iPhone.

A few hours later, cameras at the Video Integration Center identified the stolen Kia on Hightower Road.

Officers with K-9 units chased the car for several minutes. %

The car crashed into a tree and police said Anderson jumped out of the sunroof and ran away into the woods.

Hunter and Washington were taken into custody.

Investigators said they recovered a firearm from the car.

A helicopter spotted Anderson behind a house and officers caught up to him and arrested him.

Police are looking into whether the suspects may be connected to other cases.
