ATLANTA — Atlanta police say they were searching for a suspect in a wooded area in northwest Atlanta when they ran across a decomposing body.
Police said they were assisting the city of South Fulton in a search for a suspect when they ran across a badly decomposing body behind a home near Whiting Street NW and Regina Drive NW.
Investigators said the medical examiner was called the scene. They determined the body had been there for some time and could not immediately determine a cause of death.
The body will be taken to the medical examiner’s office for an autopsy.
Police said the body that was discovered had nothing to do with the search they were conducting.
