ATLANTA — Police are investigating after a pedestrian was hit and killed by a garbage truck on Campbellton Road Monday.

The accident happened around 10:30 a.m. in front of the Andrew and Walter Young Family YMCA.
NewsChopper 2 was over the scene, where a garbage truck was behind crime scene tape.

The Fulton County medical examiner identified the victim as 70-year-old Jerry Hood on Tuesday.
The driver remained on the scene and is being interviewed by detectives from the APD accident investigations unit. Police said charges are anticipated.
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported that the driver worked for a private company and was not affiliated with the City of Atlanta.
