ATLANTA — A man accused of attempting to rape a woman outside a Buckhead Target had been out of jail for less than one week before his latest arrest, according to police.
Police say Torrin Mott attacked a 28-year-old woman outside the Target store on Peachtree Road in Buckhead.
The incident, which occurred around 7:50 a.m. on Wednesday, was captured on surveillance video and is expected to be a key piece of evidence in the case.
“I heard that somebody got attacked going to the Target, but I didn’t know it was this Target,” said Letisha Maddox, a Buckhead resident.

The victim told investigators she noticed the suspect standing near the entrance and thought to herself, “I hope he doesn’t try anything.”
Moments later, police say Mott made a grunting noise before charging her and tackling her to the ground.
The attack was interrupted by a good Samaritan who rushed in to stop Mott.
This is not the first time Mott has been accused of assaulting women.
Mott was previously booked into the Fulton County Jail in January 2023 after police say he assaulted a woman at a MARTA station next to Lenox Square.
He had been released from jail last week after pleading guilty to aggravated assault as part of a negotiated plea, which resulted in a sentence of 10 years in prison with the first year commuted to time served and the remaining nine years on probation.
In addition to the attack at the Target, police believe Mott targeted a second victim earlier that morning.
Around 5 a.m., officers responded to the MARTA station next to Lenox Square, where investigators say Mott chased a woman on a bike with a belt, causing her to fall and injure her head.
Mott is currently held without bond following the recent incident, and the community remains vigilant as the case unfolds.
