ATLANTA — High pollen has allergy sufferers flooding doctors offices.
Pollen counts across metro Atlanta are through the roof, much higher than what is usually seen this early in the year.
Doctors are seeing patients with symptoms that include runny noses and scratchy throats.
They say the worst is yet to come.

Dr. Julie Zweig says her office is filled with patients with runny noses, watery eyes, scratchy throats, and some respiratory and sinus infections. Warm weather and budding trees are to blame in many of the cases.
"The pollen count is 217 today. I believe yesterday it was in the 500s,” Zweig said. "But the count does go up almost to 10,000."
The peak pollen season is just a few months down the road, which leaves patient Danita Vaughan with no choice. She doesn't like the shots, but she really doesn't like her allergies.
"You just got to go with it,” Vaughan said. “Just suck it up. Get your shots and just keep moving.”
The pollen counts can go way up and way down. Rain often washes it from the air.
