ATLANTA — Students on the Georgia State University campus are uneasy after one of their fellow students was shot just off the downtown campus, during a home invasion.
The shooting happened at the privately owned apartment complex ONE 12 Courtland Apartments, which houses only college students, on Courtland Street.
Residents told Channel 2’s Nefertiti Jaquez they want to know how the suspect managed to pull this off in a building that has 24-hour security.

"You know, it's a serious situation when you see a lot of cop cars," GSU senior Malcom Canidate told Jaquez.
Police cars descended on the apartment complex Tuesday shortly after getting a call that someone shot a young man in the arm and he was screaming while going door to door asking for help.
"You wonder, ‘What happened? What caused it and what's going to be done about it?’" Canidate said.
Aleya Haney, who also lives in the apartment building, echoed that sentiment.
"It's not the safest place I've lived," she said.
Haney told Jaquez she wants to know how the shooter managed to get into a building, especially when there are security cameras in every corner of the building.
"You do. You have to have an access card to get into the building, but I am concerned about people who sneak in behind other people,” Haney said.
Jaquez called the property owners to discuss their safety concerns and the shooting.
A spokesperson for the company released a statement, saying:
"Our first priority is to make sure our residents are safe. We are working closely with investigators and have turned over any evidence and information that may be useful to them in solving this case.
“If safety is that much of a concern, I don't want to be here,” Canidate said.
Investigators said the student who was shot is in good condition and did not live in the apartment building.
Detectives said when the incident happened, the victim was inside a unit with eight other friends. But those people made a run for it.
Anyone with information in this case is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 404-577-8477.
