ATLANTA — Do you dread getting your electric bill every month? Feel like you’re paying more than you should? According to WalletHub, Georgia is in the Top 10 of states that are the most expensive when it comes to energy costs.
According to the site, Georgia ranks 8th for the highest energy costs across the country, behind states such as Maine and Alaska.

“In the U.S., energy costs eat between 5% and 22% of families’ total after-tax income, with the poorest Americans, or 25 million households, paying the highest of that range,” WalletHub said.
The least expensive places in the U.S. for energy are Washington state and Washington, D.C., the site said.
“Lower energy prices don’t necessarily equate to savings. Where we live and how much energy we use are a big part of the equation,” the website said.
