The companies involved with the Job Fair told Channel 2′s Kristen Holloway they had over 2,000 people register early for the event, where they were holding “on-the-spot” interviews with potential employees.
Emmanuel Nazario told Holloway he was up early so he could be the first in line Wednesday morning.
“I have a job already and I know it’s important to be working so I’m always trying to build myself so that’s why I’m here honestly,” Nazario said.
Nazario was among the other 2,000 job seekers who registered early, but for him, there was a specific goal in mind.
“Southwest Airlines is my dream job and if I can get on, then I’ll be fulfilling that part of my life. I make good money and everything. I’m just trying to see if I can get my dream job,” Nazario said.

Holloway spoke with Airport Community Affairs Manager Tracy Gilbert who said there are roughly 3,675 open positions at Hartsfield-Jackson that need to be filled.
“We have everything available from air craft fuelers, to janitorial services, customer service agent to flight crew members,” Gilbert said.
Gilbert says it’s important to get the airport, flights concessions and other operations back to full staff and moving like they were before the pandemic.
“The most important reason for this career fair is to be sure that we continue to have sustainable operational efficiency for north America’s busiest airport,” Gilbert said.
