Man shot, killed in alleged drug-related incident appeared to be targeted, Atlanta police say

ATLANTA — Atlanta police are investigating a homicide that occurred just after 11 p.m. Thursday night, according to Night Commander Capt. Christian Hunt.

Police responded to a person shot call in the 3200 block of Lynfield Drive in Southwest Atlanta around 11:15 p.m., Lt. Germain Dearlove said.

Hunt said when police arrived, they located a man who died on scene from several gunshot wounds.

The victim is a 35-year-old man and police say it appears the man was targeted and that this was not a random incident.

According to police, motive appears to be drug-related.

Police are looking for two men who ran into the wood line, Hunt said. K-9 officers were dispatched to search the area the men ran into.
