ATLANTA — Police are investigating a bold smash-and-grab burglary in Buckhead with as many as eight people joining in the crime. Investigators believe the same crew is responsible for a similar crime in southwest Atlanta.
Alexis Suitcase Consignment Shop on on Peachtree Street has added another shift for its security crew after a shop was hit twice.
The burglars targeted high-end bags by Gucci, Louis Vuitton and Chanel.
The owner says she has insurance for the things that were stolen, but wants police to catch the people behind these crimes.
"The method of operation for this crime is to use as many people as possible to get as much as you can get in a short amount of time," Atlanta police Sgt. Warren Pickard said.
Police believe the same crew hit a package store on Cascade Road the same night as the consignment store burglary.
"They used that vehicle to back into an establishment five or six times until they were able to create a big enough hole," Pickard said.
The burglars grabbed 200 bottles, cash from the register and a DVR containing the surveillance video of the burglary. They drove away in the same Jeep used at the consignment shop.
