ATLANTA — On Saturday, some animals have new forever homes thanks to an Adoption Day event held at the Georgia Governor’s Mansion.
This was the seventh year that First Lady Marty Kemp hosted the event.
Humane societies, rescue groups, and animal shelters from across Georgia brought cats and dogs for families to interact with.
“It’s just important for us to get these animals out of these shelters. They are such a great asset to your family, and they’re good for mental health. They’re good for therapy,” Kemp said.
The event coincided with the Georgia Grown Festival at the governor’s mansion, highlighting products and goods from Georgians.
