At least 50,000 people were without power at one point, according to Georgia Power.

The storms cleared out throughout the evening, but isolated showers will pop up Wednesday night for some areas.

The chance for rain will stick around through Thursday with isolated and scattered showers.

The temperature will be on the rise throughout the week and into the weekend with the mercury hitting the mid-90s by Saturday.

Multiple trees down across metro Atlanta

Crews removed a huge tree that crashed in northeast Atlanta.

The tree took down power lines and damaged an SUV on North Highland Avenue before 8 a.m.

Channel 2's Audrey Washington spoke with a man who says when the tree fell, it sounded like an explosion.

"Well, it looks like a disaster zone and block from my house," said Scott Engel. "It's kind of shocking."

Another tree fell on Moore's Mill Road in northwest Atlanta. The tree debris stretched out over a woman's yard. No one was hurt, but it did block the road for some time Wednesday morning.

In Gwinnett County, a man was sitting in his recliner inside his home when a tree came crashing down above him.

"I'm shook up. I want to go sit down in a corner and have a good cry over it, but I can't even do that right now," Bruce Storey said.
