Atlanta police travel to NYC for fallen officer's funeral

Members of the Atlanta Police Department traveled to New York City to pay respects to fallen comrades Saturday.

ATLANTA — Seven APD officers attended the funeral service for New York Police Department Officer Rafael Ramos Saturday.

The department posted photos of their brothers in blue in New York on their Facebook page.

“The Georgia Peach traveled to The Big Apple in support of a fallen comrade,” they posted with one of the photos.

Ramos was shot and killed in an ambush-style attack, authorities in New York said last week. He and his partner, Officer Wenjian Liu, were killed Dec. 20 as they sat in their patrol car on a Brooklyn street.

The shooter, Ismaaiyl Brinsley of metro Atlanta, later killed himself, authorities said.
