Arrest made in murder of pregnant mother

CARROLL COUNTY, Ga. — Carrollton police arrested a man as part of their investigation into the shooting of Nakita Holland, 36, who was killed in front of her young daughter. Holland's family are being a sigh of relief but are still upset.

Slynda Johnson is now raising her granddaughter Pailey, 2.

The child spent hours alone with her dead mother after she was shot to death over the Fourth of July weekend.

Late Thursday night, police arrested Tyrail Wynn, 25, and charged him with murder and feticide for the death of Holland's unborn son.

"How could you look at my baby's face and pull a trigger and then shoot her?" Johnson said. "She's nine months pregnant. What kind of monster would do a thing like that?"

Police say Wynn broke into Holland's apartment when she was at home and, at some point, went outside and fired four shots through a bedroom window.

Investigators found graffiti scrawled on the window and wall but declined to say what it meant or if it was done to throw off the investigation.

Police are still pinning down a motive and could not confirm Johnson's claim that her daughter was carrying the baby of her alleged killer.

"When you courted my daughter, you came in the darkness, and when you killed my daughter you came in the darkness," Johnson said.

A neighbor of the accused killer said he's a married father who seemed like a normal guy.

Wynn is in jail without bond. The victim's family says Holland's funeral is scheduled for next Wednesday at 2 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Carrollton.
