ATLANTA — Some Georgia Tech students had a restless night after two home invaders robbed them and tied them up with socks.
Police tell Channel 2 Action News the victims left their front door open because their air conditioning was not working.
The criminals stole electronics and cash from the Northwest Atlanta apartment on Lovejoy Street near the university's campus.
Channel 2's Erica Byfield spoke to the victims’ roommate.
"They said, 'if you make a sound we will kill you,'" Elman Amador said. "Andres was here and Poncho was there. They were both here working on their laptops.”
“They pointed the gun at Andres at his rib and the other guy went to try to grab everything like computers, laptops, cellphone, wallet. They even took some IDs," Amador said.
Amador was asleep in the back room at the time of the home invasion. He told Byfield his roommates woke him up at about 2:45 a.m.
"They rushed in. I saw Poncho tied up, his feet tied up with some socks, and Andres with knife and he said they just robbed us,” Amador said.
Amador called 911. He said the police dusted the apartment for fingerprints and paid close attention to his DJ equipment.
"They tried to take it, but it was too heavy," he said.
Amador regrets leaving the front door open and is thankful no one was seriously injured.
"We were all scared at the moment but they did not harm any of us," he said.
Amador told Byfield one of the home invaders had a tattoo on his face.
Police are continuing to investigate.
