CLAYTON COUNTY, Ga.,None — A man charged with killing his estranged wife and then fleeing the state has been returned to Clayton County.
Channel 2 Action News had the only crew with deputies as they brought 39-year-old Wisdom Jeffrey to the county jail Tuesday night. Authorities have been searching for him since August 2011.
Someone recognized Jeffery from the program America's Most Wanted, and the tip led U.S. marshals to a home Jeffery was renting in someone else's name in Cleveland, Ohio, deputies said.
Investigators believe Jeffrey killed his estranged wife, Corissa Friends, in her Riverdale apartment two years ago.
"[He] shot her point blank with a shot gun. This was the mother of his child, mother of his child. Luckily, the child was not in the house at the time," Clayton County sheriff's deputy Jerry Barnes said.
Barnes said authorities are happy about the arrest.
"He ran for a long time, but eventually he was caught," Barnes said.
Jeffery is charged with murder. His first appearance could be as early as Wednesday afternoon or Thursday.
