Alabama breeder surrenders 63 dogs to Atlanta Humane Society

ATLANTA — An Alabama breeder has surrendered 63 dogs to the Atlanta Humane Society.

The dogs belonged to a breeder who is in failing health and asked for help.  The Atlanta Humane Society arrived at the property early Tuesday morning and immediately began assessing the animals.

Dog breeds include Yorkshire Terriers, Poodle Mixes, Shih Tzus, and Chihuahuas.  They range in age from newborn to 7-years.

The dogs were kept in kennels and are generally in good health with the exception of dental disease. Most need grooming and a more extensive medical exam.

All animals are at the Atlanta Humane Society shelters in Alpharetta and Midtown.

They could go up for adoption as soon as this weekend.
